DTCC to enable Tokenized US Equities on Stellar

DTCC and Stellar Development Foundation to bring trillions of DTC-eligible tokenized US equities onto Stellar.

The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) and Stellar announced plans to enable the tokenization of assets custodied at The Depository Trust Company (DTC) on the Stellar network, as part of DTCC’s standards-driven, multi-chain tokenization strategy. The firms expect DTC-tokenized assets to become available on Stellar in the first half of 2027.

DTC sits at the center of the U.S. securities market infrastructure.

As the primary CSD for the $60T+ U.S. public equities market, DTC already operates the market-level “golden record” of ownership for most U.S. securities. That gives DTCC an outsized role in determining how tokenized equities ultimately scale.

Importantly, under DTCC’s recent SEC-related framework developments, DTC can facilitate settlement of tokenized representations of eligible securities and deliver them into participant-controlled blockchain wallets.

That changes the equation for public blockchains like Stellar and Ethereum.

The critical issue in tokenized equities has never simply been putting stocks onchain. It has been ensuring that tokenized shares maintain the same legal, economic, settlement, and corporate action integrity as traditional market infrastructure.

➡️ This is where DTC connectivity becomes strategically important.

It would mean tokenized securities are fungible with DTC infrastructure:

• ownership records remain synchronized with the traditional market

• corporate actions can flow properly

• settlement fragmentation can potentially be reduced

• tokenized shares become far closer to institutionally acceptable market instruments

This is one of the biggest structural challenges facing third-party tokenized equity models from Robinhood or xStocks today.

Direct DTCC-linked interoperability entirely removes third party dependency and added risks from the equation for holders, making the experience more seamless.
