Mastercard launches 24/7 stablecoin platform

Moving money 24/7, funding liquidity 24/7, and making liquidity available 24/7 are THREE distinct value propositions for corporate treasurers. Mastercard's latest stablecoin infrastructure launch is attempting to bring them together.

Today, Mastercard and BVNK launched Mastercard Global Money Platform, combining stablecoin infrastructure, fiat payment rails and financial services through a unified API.

It addresses three distinct challenges in delivering 24/7 corporate liquidity:

1️⃣ Moving Money: Can value move 24/7?

A corporate can transfer $50 million in USDC from Singapore to the UK on a Friday evening and complete the onchain settlement in seconds.

But that doesn't mean the recipient has $50 million of usable liquidity in its bank account.

2️⃣ Funding Liquidity: Can the money movement be funded 24/7?

A corporate must have access to the right liquidity, in the right currency, at the right time. For example, moving $50 million in USDC requires the sender to either:

▪️ Already hold sufficient USDC liquidity.

▪️ Convert fiat balances into USDC, potentially outside conventional banking hours.

The ability to move stablecoins 24/7 does not automatically mean banks and corporates can fund those transfers 24/7.

3️⃣ Making Liquidity Available: Can the recipient actually use the money 24/7?

Imagine that $50 million arrives in USDC at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The recipient doesn't necessarily want stablecoins. It needs USD in its existing commercial bank account to fund operations, meet obligations or deploy working capital.

➡️ This is where Mastercard's Global Money Platform becomes interesting.

By combining BVNK's stablecoin infrastructure with Mastercard Move's global money movement network, Mastercard is assembling the capabilities to connect:

24/7 value transfer → Liquidity funding and conversion → Fiat payout into commercial bank accounts.

The platform brings together multi-currency accounts, stablecoin conversion, cross-border payments and access to conventional payment endpoints.

The first announced integration partners include Nuvei, Marqeta, Ontop, Bolt Group and Almond FinTech, spanning payment processing, card issuance, workforce payments, embedded financial services and cross-border payments.

Notably, BVNK's technical documentation is advertising 24/7 local bank payouts without customer pre-funding. That brings the proposition closer to the ultimate corporate treasury objective: not just moving value, but making it usable.
