Samsung and Coinbase to bring stablecoins to 82 million eligible Galaxy devices, connecting mainstream consumer wallets with global payments.

According to Allium's September 2026 State of Stablecoins and Payments report, stablecoins facilitated in the first eight months of 2026 an estimated:

💵 $43B in salary and payroll payments

🌍 $37B in remittances

🏢 $32B in service payments

📦 $28B in supplier payments

Now, Samsung, Coinbase and Bastion are bringing together the infrastructure that could make these use cases accessible to mainstream consumers.

Samsung is integrating USDC functionality directly into Samsung Wallet, potentially reaching 82 million eligible Galaxy devices in the US, with rollout beginning in late October.

Users will be able to:

  • Hold USDC within Samsung Wallet, without managing private keys

  • Transfer USDC to compatible digital wallets internationally

  • Send funds to eligible bank accounts in 60+ countries, with recipients able to receive local currency

➡️ How do Samsung, Coinbase and Bastion enable stablecoin payments?

Samsung Wallet: Provides consumer distribution and the user interface.

Coinbase Prime: Provides institutional subcustody of USDC.

Bastion: Provides regulated stablecoin accounts, identity verification, compliance, transaction authorization and international payment orchestration, including conversion into local-currency bank payouts.

Circle: Issues the USDC underpinning the payment flows.

Local payout partners: Facilitate currency conversion and deliver funds into recipients' domestic bank accounts.

➡️ Why could Samsung Wallet accelerate mainstream stablecoin adoption?

Until now, consumers generally needed dedicated crypto wallets, exchanges or fintech applications to access stablecoin payment services. Samsung is bringing that functionality into a wallet already embedded in millions of smartphones.

The bigger opportunity is to connect three functions within one mainstream consumer interface:

1️⃣ Receive and hold digital dollars

2️⃣ Transfer them internationally

3️⃣ Convert them into spendable local-currency bank balances
